I don't want to file bankruptcy, is there anything else I can do?

I don't want to file bankruptcy, is there anything else I can do? There are many alternatives to filing bankruptcy and there are different kinds of bankruptcy as well.  Most choices depend on your income levels and lifestyle.  Sometimes, financial difficulties are temporary and can be handled as such.  Just as with major surgery, it is important to consider all of the alternatives.  Aside from the Chapter 7 bankruptcy that most people know about, there are Chapters for farmers (Chapter 12), businesses (Chapter 11), and individuals (Chapter 13) that all contemplate some form of payment plan.  Congress now requires family budgeting education and mandatory credit counseling before allowing the filing of a bankruptcy case.  You should always consider all of the alternatives before deciding what is best for your situation.
